Batı Yıldırım Continues to Gain Experience

Sixteen-year-old Turkish national driver Batı Yıldırım took to Italy's Vallelunga circuit for the second round of this season's Porsche Carrera Cup Italy.

The youngest driver in the series, Batı quickly improved lap times against experienced rivals after four practice sessions on Thursday and a 45-minute session on Friday. Eight seconds off the fastest driver at the end of the first practice session on Thursday, the Turkish representative managed to cut that gap to 2.2 seconds in Saturday's qualifying session.

In the first race, Yıldırım got away nine seconds late after the gearbox stuck in gear, and a further technical problem with downshifting meant the driver could only finish 26th after starting 31st. In the second race, the young driver made a very strong getaway to pass four rivals at the start, and again finished 26th after starting 30th.

The 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup Italy continues with round three at Mugello on 11-13 July.
