Baja Troia Türkiye Delivers Breathtaking Action

Baja Troia Türkiye, the final round of the 2022 Eastern European Off-road Series organised by the İstanbul Offroad Kulübü, took place in Çanakkale from 22-25 September.
The event, staged with the support of the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation, the Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), the Çanakkale Governorship and Çanakkale Municipality, attracted a total of 42 vehicles and 82 competitors from Turkey, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria and Poland.
Baja Troia Türkiye was run this year as a candidate event for the FIA European Cross-Country Baja Cup. The crews tackled eight special stages over a 900km route taking in Bayramiç, Terziler, Kuşçayırı, Karapınar and Salihler.
Only 24 vehicles made it to the end of the demanding event, with Turkish crew Mert Becce – Sertaç Tatar taking victory in the car category. Competing for Rally Raid Team Türkiye, Becce and Tatar claimed the Eastern European Off-road Series title for the second year in a row with this win.
In the car category, Italy's Antonio Ricciari – Morosi Simona finished second, with fellow Italians Moro Stefano – Manoni Daniele third. In the SSV class, Bulgaria's Murat Kapanoğlu – Aleksandar Trendafilov took the win, ahead of Mert Öztiryaki – Ömer Güneş in second and Diren Üykü – Baran Aşkın in third.
The "Best Gentleman Crew" award, presented for the first time this year, was shared between two crews. Mahir Alp – Aker Alp and Abdullah Turgut – Bayram Eyri received the award from Remzi Yılmaz, Vice Chairman of the Turkish National Olympic Committee's Fair Play Commission.
