Ali and Yağız Return from Misano with Points
The famous Misano Marco Simoncelli Circuit on Italy's Adriatic coast hosted round three of the GT4 European Series from 22-24 June. Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport represented Turkey among 24 teams, 44 cars, 97 drivers and 17 different manufacturers, and young drivers Ali Türkkan and Yağız Gedik took the start in races 5 and 6 of the series.
Our drivers stood out as the best BMW on track in the tricky test sessions on Friday, run in heavy rain, and went on to qualify 37th for the first race and 18th for the second.
Starting the first race with Yağız Gedik, the Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport team kept up a fast pace from the opening laps and had climbed to 22nd by the time it reached its pit stop. Ali Türkkan then took over the car and continued the strong run, crossing the line 13th overall and 7th in the Silver class. The team thus added another 6 points to its tally. In the second race the crew started 18th and had risen as high as 8th during the race, but was forced to pit twice and finished 23rd.
Competing with Borusan Otomotiv as title sponsor and the support of Shell, Borusan Lojistik, Glasurit, Sofra Grup, Özüaydın, Cesan, Securitas and Technogym, Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport has already begun preparing for round four of the GT4 European Series, to be held at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium from 20-22 July.
