All the Details of the 2020 Körfez Races
Motorsport events, which were suspended because of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, will be held by the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED) at Körfez Race Track and on routes set around it for six weeks from 21 November, with the approval of the Ministry of Youth and Sports' General Directorate of Sports Services.
Events in a range of disciplines, including the Turkish Rally and Historic Rally Championships and the off-road, baja, circuit racing, karting, drifting and Şevki Gökerman Rally Cups, will be held without spectators under coronavirus (Covid-19) measures.
No entry fee will be charged in any discipline and participants will pay only the insurance cost. Competitor and driver licences for all disciplines will also cost 250 TL. Athletes taking part in the events will be asked to take a PCR test no later than five days before the race.
2020 TOSFED Karting Cup
The cup, which consists of three races, will begin with the opening round at TOSFED Körfez Race Track on Friday 20 November. Contested in four separate categories – Mini, Junior, Senior and Master – the racing will begin with practice and qualifying between 10:00 and 13:00. From 14:00, each category will then run two races and the classification will be determined.
2020 TOSFED Circuit Racing Cup
The three-round cup will begin with the opening round at TOSFED Körfez Race Track on 21-22 November. Saturday 21 November will start with administrative and technical checks, followed by practice and qualifying, while on Sunday 22 November the first Super group race will take place at 11:00 and the first Maxi group race at 11:45. The second Super group race will be run at 14:00, with the Maxi group's second race starting at 14:45.
2020 TOSFED Drifting Cup
The cup will consist of three events run in different layouts at TOSFED Körfez Race Track and will begin with the opening round on 21-22 November. Saturday 21 November will see administrative and technical checks, practice and qualifying, while the final battles will take place on Sunday 22 November from 15:30.
2020 TOSFED Off-road Cup
The cup, which consists of three races, will begin with the opening round on Sunday 29 November. From 12:00, the race will consist of three passes through a 4.50-kilometre spectator stage with obstacles set up at TOSFED Körfez Race Track. The second round of the cup will be held on 13 December and the third on 27 December, again at Körfez.
2020 TOSFED Baja Cup
The Baja Cup, consisting of three races, will begin with the opening event on 27-28 November. On Friday 27 November, following scrutineering at TOSFED Körfez Race Track, the crews' start order will be determined by the Prologue stage at 16:00. In the race, which begins with the exit from parc fermé at 09:00 on Saturday 28 November, the crews will tackle the 42.60-kilometre Teksen stage twice. The event, which finishes at Körfez from 15:55, will end with the prize-giving ceremony at 17:40.
2020 Turkish Rally and Historic Rally Championships
The 2020 Turkish Rally Championship and Turkish Historic Rally Championship, whose first two rounds were held in Marmaris in September as part of Rally Turkey, will be completed with three rallies to be held in and around Körfez on 28-29 November, 12-13 December and 26-27 December. TOSFED Körfez Rally, the third rally of the season, will begin on Saturday 28 November with the recce between 09:00 and 13:00, followed by scrutineering. On Sunday 29 November, the crews will complete the 243.47-kilometre rally, tackling seven gravel special stages with a total length of 67.76 kilometres, three of them inside Körfez Race Track.
2020 Şevki Gökerman Rally Cup
Held this season in memory of Şevki Gökerman, one of the doyens of motorsport who passed away last year, the cup will consist of three rallies to be held in and around Körfez on 28-29 November, 12-13 December and 26-27 December. The first round, TOSFED Körfez Rally, will begin on Saturday 28 November with the recce between 09:00 and 13:00, followed by scrutineering. On Sunday 29 November, the crews will complete the 243.47-kilometre rally, tackling seven gravel special stages with a total length of 67.76 kilometres, three of them inside Körfez Race Track.
