World RX of Türkiye Was Sensational!

The final round of the 2024 FIA World Rallycross Championship, World RX of Türkiye, organised by the Turkish Motorsports Federation (TOSFED) at Istanbul Park, played host to breathtaking battles.

Staged with the support of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Spor Toto, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Tuzla Municipality, the event offered spectators an unforgettable experience on the revamped mixed asphalt and gravel track.

In the opening races of the "Battle of Technologies", which pitted electric cars against petrol-powered ones, on Saturday, Ole Christian Veiby took the win, with Niclas Grönholm second and Kevin Hansen completing the podium in third.

The second day of the event, which fell on the 86th anniversary of the passing of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, began at 09:05 with a minute's silence and the playing of the national anthem.

On a track made considerably heavier by the rain, the drivers' door-to-door fights and drifting displays were followed with excitement by the motorsport fans who filled the grandstands. Juha Rytkönen finished first on the second day, with Johan Kristofferson second and Timmy Hansen third.

At the end of the Turkish round of the World Rallycross Championship, hosted by Istanbul Park for the first time since 2015, Swedish driver Johan Kristofferson clinched the seventh World Rallycross title of his career and received his trophy from TOSFED President Eren Üçlertoprağı.
