SKODA Make Fast Start to Season

Rally Phrygia, the opening round of both the Balkan Rally Cup and the Turkish Rally Championship, concluded after the Mantotherm, Banaz, Espark and Midas stages had each been run twice. Organised by the Eskişehir Otomobil Sporları Kulübü (ESOK), the tarmac rally attracted 45 crews and was held in the Eskişehir-Kütahya-Bilecik region.
Last year's Turkish Rally Champions Burak Çukurova and Vedat Bostancı, driving a Skoda Fabia R5, finished the first day in the lead. Despite problems in the poor weather on day two, the crew took second place overall to make a good start to the season. The team's other crew, Erkan Güral and Burak Koçoğlu, running with NG Kütahya Seramik as title sponsor, defied the difficult conditions on their first tarmac rally in a Skoda Fabia R5 to finish sixth overall and score valuable points for the team.

BC Vision Motorsport Team Director Burak Çukurova made the following statement after the rally: "I am delighted that, despite the severe weather in Eskişehir on Sunday, both of our cars reached the finish and we were on the podium. We managed to bank some valuable points. The second round of the season, which is also the first gravel rally, will be held in Cyprus. I hope we can show the same form there. I would like to thank all of our sponsors and supporters."
