Autocross Season Closes in Izmir

Rounds 9 and 10 of the 2014 TOSFED Autocross Championship were held by Aydın Automobile Sports Club with the support of Menderes Municipality on Sunday 8 December at the Izmir Menderes autocross track.
The events attracted 19 entries, 7 national and 12 local, and were tough and closely fought on a dirt surface made heavier by rain. With the class wins in the other categories already settled after the earlier events, only Category 1 and Category 2 were contested. In Category 1, Dağhan Yavuz of Eskişehir won round 9 in a Fiat Palio, while Özkan Uçkan, also in a Fiat Palio, took the win in round 10. Among the other Category 1 runners, Burak Başlık finished second in round 9 but suffered a mechanical failure in round 10 and did not see the chequered flag. Ali Çatalbaş finished fourth in the first race of the day and third in the second. After these results in Izmir, Dağhan Yavuz was crowned TOSFED Autocross Cup Category 1 champion.
In Category 2, Necmi Hasbudak of Bursa, in a Fiat Palio, closed the day with two wins. Semih Erkal of Bursa, in a Fiat Palio Kit Car, fell victim to a mechanical failure in the first race, but a third place in the second race was enough to complete the season as TOSFED Autocross Cup Category 2 champion. In their first experience on dirt, 17-year-old Furkan Paşalı from Bodrum, driving a Fiat Palio for Loft Oil T-Max Racing Team, finished second in both races.
In the local classification, Burak Navruz won Category 1 in a Fiat Palio, Hüseyin Teloğlu won Category 2 in a Ford Ka, and Erdal Oral won Category 3 in a Ford Escort MK2.
After the final battle of the season, the class champions were: Dağhan Yavuz in Category 1 (Fiat Palio), Semih Erkal in Category 2 (Fiat Palio Kit Car), Hakan Ertarman in Category 3 (Renault Clio Ragnotti), Serhan Türkkan in Category 4 (Ford Fiesta R2), Hakan Kargın in Category 5 (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX) and Doğan Kabak in Category 6 (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VIII).
