Peli Offroad Fest Takes Breath Away

Organised by Vezirköprü Offroad Club (VEZİROFF) as part of the events marking the 100th anniversary of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades' landing in Samsun, Peli Offroad Fest hosted both a trial and an off-road race.
On Saturday 3 August, in the İncesu district of Vezirköprü, teams made up of 2 vehicles and 4 competitors each sweated it out on the stage in the third round of the 2019 Turkish Trial Championship, showing teamwork and true off-road spirit. The AVC-Osmanlı team, made up of the crews of Adnan Ofluoğlu-Şenol Coşkun in a Toyota and Oğuz Kağan-Kürşat Öztürk in a purpose-built car named Abartürk, finished the demanding event in first place. The Nascar Jeep Marmara Vinç team, comprising the crews of Mithat Sönmez-Muharrem Ekebil in a purpose-built car named Göktürk and Uğur Kalbal-Ümit Aydın in a Jeep Cherokee, also took to the podium in second.
BLACK SEA OFF-ROAD CUP ROUND 3
The third round of the 2019 Black Sea Off-road Cup, which drew 20 vehicles and 40 competitors, was run on Sunday 4 August. The event, which attracted great interest from motorsport fans, was also watched by Samsun Governor Osman Kaymak, Samsun Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Demir, Vezirköprü District Governor Kudret Kurnaz and Vezirköprü Mayor İbrahim Sadık Edis.
In an Opel Frontera, Remzi Aygün-Yahya Şahin took the overall and Class 3 wins, while Murat Akkaya-Hakan Er finished second overall and won Class 2 in a Mitsubishi Pajero. Third overall and Class 4 winners were Erhan Karakaş-Kemal Arıcan in a Jeep Grand Cherokee, while Bülent Vural-Emre Temel took the Class 1 win in a Suzuki Vitara. The event concluded with an awards ceremony held at the Vezirköprü Cultural Centre.
