MTG Motorsport Ready for 2016

Firstly, could you introduce yourselves? Who are your team's drivers and what cars do you run?
Our drift team is called MTG Motorsport, and it is made up of myself, Timur Pomak, and Baran Akbay. I was born in 1980 and Baran in 1979. I also design the projects for the team's cars and am responsible for everything that needs adding or developing throughout the season.
Could you tell us a little about your cars?
We chose the Nissan 200SX, in its S13 chassis. The technical specification is quite a long list. In my own car I use the 2JZ engine from the Toyota Supra.
Baran's car has another Toyota engine, a 1JZ. Both engines are heavily modified. Mine produces around 850HP, while Baran's has around 550HP. We carry out all the necessary work on our cars to do justice to the sport of drifting. Safety equipment, angle kits, cooling systems... the list goes on and on.

Why did you choose Nissan for drifting?
Because it offers stable acceleration and quick steering response in drifting, it's light, and it lends itself to every kind of modification. We can also say we chose it because it offers so many options, both mechanically and visually.
What are the must-haves for a good drift car?
Safety first, of course. The roll cage, fire extinguisher, harness and seat are the essentials of this business. For performance, a powerful, high-torque engine and the Wisefab angle kit allow us to drift in a more controlled way at higher speeds. The engine's performance against your rivals is also a fine margin.
What have you developed on your cars this year to make them better drift cars?
The engine, body kit, electrics, cockpit... in short, I'd say we've done everything required to bring the cars up to the standard needed to compete in Europe.
Of course, development never ends. At every track and every event, different things catch our attention, so we continue these developments in the middle of the season too.
Finishing in the top four at the end of the season is every driver's dream. So where do you see yourselves this season, as drivers and as a team?
Our target is first as a team and the top three as drivers. Alongside that, if luck is on our side, we aim to move our careers forward by repeating last year's performance in Europe.
Which is your favourite Apex Masters track this season?
Apex Masters is a professional drift series and the events are very well organised. All the tracks chosen for the events are also flawless, both for us and for our spectators.

What can you promise companies that sponsor your team? Why should they choose you to publicise their names?
As a team, we competed in four different countries last year. In this year's plan, apart from the Turkish Championship, there is Europe again. We want to represent our country once more in the Serbian Drift Series, Adriatic Drift Series, Bulgarian Drift Championship and King of Europe.
What advice do you have for those who want to drift?
We recommend doing it on circuits, definitely not on the streets. The enjoyment of practising and racing on closed circuits with a professionally prepared drift car is something else entirely.
We wish you success on Turkish and European circuits in the new season.
