Excitement Peaks in Merkezefendi

Round 2 of the 2019 Turkish Off-road Championship was held on 27-28 April in the Merkezefendi district of Denizli, organised by the Denizli Doğa Sporları ve Offroad Kulübü (DENDOFF). Hosted by Merkezefendi Municipality, the event drew 29 vehicles and 58 competitors from across Turkey.
On the first day of the event the crews tackled a special stage named after TOSFED Honorary President Serkan Yazıcı, while on the second day they competed on the Merkezefendi Municipality spectator stage. The action was followed with great enthusiasm by Denizli MP Teoman Sancar, Merkezefendi District Governor Dr. Adem Uslu, Merkezefendi Mayor Şeniz Doğan, Bozkurt Mayor Birsen Çelik, Babadağ Mayor Ali Atlı, Pamukkale Deputy Mayor Ayhan Soyfidan, Denizlispor President Ali Çetin, representatives of civil society organisations and local residents.
Over two days of battling both tough natural conditions and their rivals, Kenan Özsoy-Harun Deynek, competing for EVL Garage in a Nissan Navara, took the win. Çağdaş Çağlar-Ertuğrul Danişment finished second in a Can-Am Maverick for TR Extreme, with Orçun Koral-Aziz Doruk third in a similar vehicle from the same team.
In the teams classification, TR Extreme took the victory, while the class wins were shared between Çağdaş Çağlar-Ertuğrul Danişment in the SSV category, Bora Köse-Bülent Köse in Class 1, Serkan Sivri-Ali Şeyda Kıvrak in Class 2, Ergün Çirkin-Bekir Başkal in Class 3 and Kenan Özsoy-Harun Deynek in Class 4.
Merkezefendi Mayor Şeniz Doğan, speaking after the event, said the interest in the races was gratifying: "We staged a race that was a great spectacle, full of excitement and adrenaline. We will always stand by sport and by the competitors. We kept safety as the priority while running these races. We have the most reliable and longest track in Turkey. The off-road races held in Denizli are the only ones of their kind at national level in the Aegean region, which makes us proud. We will continue to run these events."
