Kocaeli Ready for a Big Rally
Ford Otosan Kocaeli Rally, the third round of the 2016 Turkish Rally Championship, is being organised by the Kocaeli Automobile Sports Club (KOSDER) on 11-12 June 2016. Held for the 34th time this year with Ford Otosan as title sponsor and the support of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, İzmit Municipality, 41 Burda Shopping Centre and Wellborn Luxury Hotel, the Ford Otosan Kocaeli Rally promises some great battles.
SPECTATOR STAGE TO BE LIVENED UP BY A DRIFT SHOW
On the first day of the rally, which starts in front of the 41 Burda Shopping Centre at 14:00 on Saturday 11 June, the crews will tackle the Mehmet Kolaylı (18.80 km) and İlker Elbir (12.40 km) stages, followed by the Mehmet Sadık Efe spectator stage in the city centre. The Perşembe Pazarı, opposite Bulvar Anıt Park, will host both the service area and the spectator stage. From 17:00 on the spectator stage, Apex Masters drivers competing in the Turkish Drifting Championship will put on unforgettable shows for the crowds in their spectacular rear-wheel-drive drift cars. After the spectator stage and a 45-minute end-of-day service, the first day of the rally will finish at the Wellborn Luxury Hotel.
FIVE STAGES ON DAY TWO
The crews will be back behind the wheel from 09:00 on Sunday 12 June, with a tough day's work ahead of them. After the Mehmet Kolaylı (18.80 km) and İlker Elbir (12.40 km) special stages, the crews will come into the service area to maintain and refuel their cars. They will then run these two stages once more, before playing their final cards on the Red Bull bonus stage. The crews finishing in the top three overall and in their classes on this stage will carry extra points into the Turkish Rally Championship. The event, covering a total of 387.71 kilometres, will end at 16:30 on the finish podium in front of the 41 Burda Shopping Centre.
FREE SHUTTLE SERVICES FOR SPECTATORS
The organising club, KOSDER, will run free shuttle services from central points in the city for motorsport fans who want to watch the rally. Spectators transferred to the stages by these shuttles on Saturday and Sunday will be able to enjoy a pleasant weekend watching the rally, accompanied by music. The departure points and times of the shuttles will be announced on the www.kosder.org.tr website.
