Kaynaşlı Comes Alive with Rallycross

The first round of the season in rallycross, which gained Turkish Championship status in 2016, took place in Düzce on Sunday 14 August. Organised by the Eskişehir Automobile Sports Club (ESOK) with the support of the Düzce Governorship, Düzce Municipality, Kaynaşlı District Governorship and Kaynaşlı Municipality, the event was held on the 1450-metre Kaynaşlı rallycross track built in Kaynaşlı, with 8 competitors taking part across 3 classes.

With the cars competing in 3 separate classes according to their technical specifications, Istanbul's Kerem Orak took victory in Class 2 driving a Control 2, with Halid Avdagiç, also from Istanbul and in a similar car, finishing second, while experienced Ankara driver Tan Uydaş claimed third.

In Class 3, Ankara's Sinan Saatçi opened the season with a win in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IV, with Erkan Güral from Kütahya taking second in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX and Yavuzhan Cabbaroğlu from Ankara third in a Subaru Impreza GC8. Halim Ateş, who started as the sole entry in the Open class with a MINI JCW WRC, was the driver who drew the most support from the spectators…

At the prize-giving ceremony held after the event, the awards for the leading competitors were presented by Kaynaşlı District Governor Abdullah Demirdağ.
