Izmir Opens Season With Autocross

The first round of the 2017 Izmir Autocross and Hill Climb Cup will be organised by the Aydın Automobile Sports Club (AYOSK) on Sunday 9 April at the Menderes Autocross Track, located within the Ege Asal Motor Sport Rally Centre.

The venue is visually striking and competitive in character. The Izmir Autocross event, held on an 810-metre track with a mixed dirt and concrete surface, will begin with scrutineering at 09:30 on Sunday 9 April and continue with practice runs between 11:00 and 12:00. The race itself will run over a total of 10 laps in two separate sections between 12:30 and 16:30, concluding with the prize-giving ceremony at 16:45.

Speaking about the event, which will take place on the track created for the district by Menderes Municipality, AYOSK President Kuvvet Erim said: "Through joint work carried out with the financial and moral support of Menderes Municipality and Mithat Diker, we aim to increase the number of competitors and spectators this year. The opening round of the Cup will see some exciting battles. On Sunday 9 April, when the drivers will fight it out on the dusty, demanding track, I invite all motorsport enthusiasts to come and enjoy watching the racing."
