Illyuk Wins as Pomak Takes the Title

The final round of the 2016 Turkish Drift Championship, ApexMasters, was held at the TOSFED Körfez Circuit on Sunday 23 October.

Organised by the Drift Otomobil Sporları Kulübü with PWR Balata as sponsor, the event featured 20 drivers and 2,000 ticketed spectators. After the rounds in Izmir and Istanbul, the drivers put on very close battles at the Körfez circuit, with its tighter, sharper corners.

In the fourth and final round of the season, victory went to 2016 Ukrainian Drift Champion Dmitriy Illyuk in his 1200-horsepower car. Timur Pomak of MTG Motorsport finished second, while Oktay Kabaktaş of TeamArt Dream Drift Team took third on the day.

With this result, Timur Pomak, who also represents Turkey successfully in European events, became the 2016 Turkish Drift Champion. Pomak also became the first 'official' champion of drifting, which gained national status this season and was elevated to a Turkish Championship.
