Our Young Drivers Impress in IAME

The fourth round of the IAME Series Italy, with a total of 160 drivers taking part, was held on 30 April-1 May at the 7 Laghi Kart circuit in Castelletto. With four young drivers from Turkey in action, the weekend produced highly competitive racing over two days.
Competing in the X30 Mini class, İskender Zülfikari completed the heats with two third places and one win, earning a place on the third row of the grid for the final. The 10-year-old was running well in the final, but a crash prevented the driver from finishing. After a pointless weekend, Zülfikari sits second in the IAME Series Italy X30 Mini standings on 221.5 points.
13-year-old national team driver Batı Ege Yıldırım also had a successful weekend. Starting fourth after qualifying, the driver was forced off the track in the first heat by a technical problem for the rival ahead and dropped to last, but fought back up to tenth. After finishing the second heat fourth and the third heat fifth, Yıldırım gained two places in the final, which featured 34 drivers, to finish eighth. The points from this race lifted Yıldırım to 14th in a 72-driver class, boosting morale ahead of the first race of the FIA Academy Trophy, to be held in Belgium on 11-15 May.
Another of our drivers, 15-year-old Kerim Sulyak, made a statement by qualifying eighth in the X30 Senior class, but two engine failures in the heats meant missing the final, and the weekend ended without points. Also following the series this season, 13-year-old Leyla Sulyak stood out as the only female driver to reach the final in the 39-driver X30 Junior class, progressing from 14th, 17th and 18th places in the heats.
We congratulate our young drivers and wish them continued success.
