Fiestas Set to Start in Çanakkale

Organised by Ford Motorsport Türkiye, the "Fiesta Rally Cup" offers amateur rally enthusiasts the chance to compete as part of a professional team in its revamped format. After a five-year break, the season-opening Aegean Rally was remembered for the intensity of the excitement and competition on its asphalt stages. The second round, Rally Troia, is also drawing attention as it features on the Balkan Championship calendar within the European Rally Cup. The crews will start from the Trojan Horse at 18.30 on Friday 30 June in Çanakkale, and will complete the rally over very fast and challenging stages between 1 and 2 July.
"Competition in the championship will intensify with Rally Troia"
Ford Motorsport Türkiye Team Director Serdar Bostancı said the following about Rally Troia, the second event of the Fiesta Rally Cup: "We left the first race of the Fiesta Rally Cup behind us in April with the Aegean Rally. At the Aegean Rally, which was an exciting one for us too, the Fiesta Rally Cup crews also finished at the top of the Turkish Rally Championship two-wheel-drive class. Everyone who chose the Ford Fiesta rally car left happy, both with the Fiesta Rally Cup and with the Turkish Rally Championship. I think competition in the championship will intensify even further with Rally Troia. I wish all the crews success."
In the "Fiesta Rally Cup" class, three generations of Ford Fiesta race cars with different technical specifications compete: the Fiesta ST, Fiesta R2 and Fiesta R2T. Prizes are awarded to the sub-class winners as well as in the overall classification, and in the Fiesta Rally Cup overall classification the Ümit Can Özdemir and Batuhan Memişyazıcı crew, driving a Fiesta R2T (1.0L EcoBoost), had managed to finish first. Cem Alakoç & Yusuf Çelik, driving a Fiesta R2 (1.6L Zetec), finished second, while Onur Çelikyay & Uğur Çelikyay, also in a Fiesta ST, completed the rally in third.
