Yağız Leads Day One in Çanakkale

The first day of Rally Troia, organised by the Eskişehir Automobile Sports Club and the Çanakkale Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the support of Çanakkale Municipality, is now behind us.
The fourth round of the Balkan Rally Cup, part of the European Rally Cup, attracted 65 cars and 130 competitors, and the first day was finished in the lead by the Yağız Avcı-Bahadır Gücenmez crew, competing for Neo Motorspor in a Peugeot 208 T16 R5. The Orhan Avcıoğlu-Burçin Korkmaz crew, driving a Ford Fiesta R5 for Tok Sport WRT, sit second, 18 seconds behind, while the crew completing the first day in third were Burak Çukurova-Vedat Bostancı, in a Skoda Fabia R5 for BC Vision Motorsport.
At the end of the first day, the BC Vision Motorsport crew of Ahmet Burkay-Burak Akçay lead the 2WD classification and Class 4. In Class 3, Hakan Ertarman-Yunus Emre Bol lead in a Renault Clio Ragnotti, while in Class 5 the Bulgarian crew of Simeon Simeonov-Yordan Yordanov are on top in a Hyundai i20 Coupe. In the historic category, for classic rally cars over 35 years old, Engin Kap-Özden Yılmaz, competing for Parkur Historic in a 1976 Ford Escort MK 2, finished the day in first place.
Also awarding points to the Turkish Rally Championship and the Bulgarian Rally Championship, Rally Troia concludes tomorrow (Sunday 2 July) after three stages, with a prize-giving ceremony at 17.00 on the finish podium in front of the Trojan Horse on the Çanakkale Kordon.
