Fiesta Rally Cup Starts in Izmir
Turkey's first and only single-make rally cup, launched by Ford Motorsport Türkiye in 1999 as the Ford Ka Rally Cup and run under the Fiesta Rally Cup name until 2012, is returning after a five-year break. Welcoming young and promising rally enthusiasts with its revamped format, the Fiesta Rally Cup will kick off at the 27th Saygılı Rulman Aegean Rally in Izmir on 22-23 April.
Saying that they were delighted to bring back the Fiesta Rally Cup, Ford Motorsport Türkiye Team Director Serdar Bostancı said: “As the organisation that has given the most opportunities to young drivers in our 18-year team history, we are very happy to reunite rally enthusiasts with the Fiesta Rally Cup. For the competitors taking part in the series, we provide technical support, spare parts and information on car set-up on a par with a Ford works team, and we also give them the chance to benefit from driver management and our other technical resources. In addition, we allow them to arrange their own service if they prefer. With the chance for crews to bring in new sponsors with complete freedom, the Fiesta Rally Cup takes on a brand-new and more sustainable structure from 2017. Ford Motorsport Türkiye has produced many champion drivers in past years, and I hope the new Fiesta Rally Cup format will be a good thing for the Turkish motorsport community.”
