Spectacular Start for Aegean Rally

The opening round of the 2017 Turkish Rally Championship, the 27th Saygılı Rulman Aegean Rally, got under way on Friday evening, 21 April, with a start ceremony held at the amphitheatre in Bornova Aşık Veysel Park.

A total of 74 crews will start the event – 36 in the national category, eight historic and 30 in the Renç Koçibey Rally Cup – making it the best-supported rally in recent years… In a rally expected to deliver a fierce fight, the reigning Turkish Rally Champions, the Peugeot Türkiye and Red Bull-backed crew of Yağız Avcı-Bahadır Gücenmez, will start with number 1, while free spectator shuttles will depart from Bornova Aşık Veysel Park at 11.00 on Saturday and Sunday.The rally starts from Bornova at 13.30 on Saturday 22 April. On the opening day the crews head for Manisa to tackle the 21-kilometre Spil stage, before dropping down to Kemalpaşa via the Beşpınar stage and finishing the day with the double-run spectator stage, named Şehit Fethi Sekin, at the ÜlküPark circuit. From 08.00 on Sunday morning the crews will run the Bayramlı, Çınardibi and Bayındır stages in the Kemalpaşa area twice each, and after the RedBull.com Power Stage they will collect their awards at the finish ceremony in the centre of Kemalpaşa from 18.00.
