Aegean Cup Gets Underway

The opening round of the 2019 Aegean Cup, which consists of five rounds in total, will be held in Izmir on Sunday 7 April, organised by the Aydın Automobile Sports Club (AYOSK). At the season opener, which takes place on the Menderes Autocross track the club has built in Kısıkköy with the support of Menderes Municipality, the competitors will provide spectators with thrilling, adrenaline-filled action.
The event will begin with scrutineering at 09:30 on Sunday 7 April, followed by practice laps between 11:00 and 12:00. The race will be run over a total of 10 laps in two separate sections between 12:30 and 16:30, and will conclude with the prize-giving ceremony at 16:45.
Speaking about the first race of the Aegean Cup, AYOSK President Mithat Diker said that the work carried out had improved the track this year and that they expect an increase in both competitors and spectators in the 2019 Aegean Cup, adding: "I invite motorsport enthusiasts to come and watch our race on Sunday 7 April, where plenty of exciting moments are expected." The race is expected to draw great interest from Izmir's motorsport fans, as always, and the veteran competitor Mithat Diker will also take the start.
Spectators can watch the race free of charge. The track is located inside the Ege Asal Motor Spor Rally Training Centre, on the right-hand side at the entrance to Kısıkköy, 6.5 km past the Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport junction in the direction of Torbalı.
