Bursa Autocross Opens New Track to Great Enthusiasm

The Bursa Autocross Races, organised by the Bursa Automobile Sports Club (BOSSEK), provided plenty of close competition on 10-11 August. On the newly built autocross track inside the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Sports Complex in the Demirtaş area, 53 competitors across 5 classes battled it out in 3 separate races.

In the double-heat autocross races held over two days, Birol Aral won the first race in Category 1 in a Citroen Saxo VTS, while the second and third races went to his son Oğuz Alp Aral in the same car, making it a father-and-son success. In Category 2, Tansel Karasu took victory in all three races in a Peugeot 208 R2, while in Category 3 Yıldıray Demircioğlu won the first race in a Peugeot 208 Rally4, with local driver Burak Dalkılıç taking the second and third in a Ford Fiesta Rally4.

In Category 4, which had the biggest entry with 15 cars, Çağlayan Çelik won all three races in a Skoda Fabia R5 he was driving for the first time, and also set the fastest time of the day. In Category 5, which was open to SSVs, İsrafil Akyüz completed his first autocross experience with three wins in a Can-Am Maverick R.

At the end of the event, the top finishers received their awards at a ceremony attended by Bursa Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Bozbey.
