Akın-Köksalan Win in Boyabat

The season opener of the 2017 Turkish Off-road Championship was held in Boyabat, in Sinop province, on 29-30 April 2017. Organised by the Sinop Offroad Club, known as SİNOFF, with the support of the Sinop Governorate, the Boyabat District Governorate, the Boyabat Municipality and the Provincial Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, Round 1 saw 48 competitors and 24 vehicles take the start.
The event began on Saturday 29 April with a ceremonial start in front of the old bus station in the city centre. The crews competed on the Tayyareci Nuri Bey stage on the first day and the Şehit Ömeroğlu Mustafa stage on the second, providing plenty of excitement for the many fans who lined the course.
The crew of Mustafa Akın-Emre Köksalan took the overall win in their Suzuki Vitara, with Engin Başkurt-Şükrü Mindiloğlu, also in a Suzuki Vitara, finishing second. Third overall went to Kenan Özsoy-Hüseyin Uyar in a Nissan Pathfinder.
The class wins were shared between Edip Yaşar Kurtoğlu-Murat Timuçin Doğan in Class 1, Engin Başkurt-Şükrü Mindiloğlu in Class 2, Cemil Islıkçı-Suat Çelik in Class 3 and Kenan Özsoy-Hüseyin Uyar in Class 4.
In the team classification, 54 Redline Team, made up of Engin Başkurt, Gökhan İçen and Mustafa Saray, won and took home the TOSFED incentive prize of 2,000 TL. Evliyaoğlu Team, comprising Kenan Özsoy and Kemal Özsoy, finished second, while Trakoff Çorlu Belediyesi, made up of Edip Yaşar Kurtoğlu and Fehmi Bağcı, took third.
The second round of the 2017 Turkish Off-road Championship will be organised by ARDOFF in Ardeşen, Rize, on 20-21 May.
