BajaTroiaTurkey Countdown Begins

İSOFF is organising the first international-format event to be held in Turkey in the off-road discipline with BajaTroiaTurkey. Staged as a four-day event in Çanakkale, set against the mythological backdrop of Troy, BajaTroiaTurkey will run from 26-29 October as the fifth round of the six-round East European Tout Terrain Series calendar.
The event, which is expected to draw around 20,000 spectators to a dedicated spectator area in the centre of Çanakkale, is supported by the Çanakkale Chamber of Commerce, the Çanakkale Governorate and Çanakkale Municipality. Starting with a ceremonial start in front of the Trojan Horse in Çanakkale's main square on Thursday 26 October, the race will cover 800km off-road, in addition to the spectator stages held every day. Special bus services will be provided for spectators who want to watch the race from within the stages.
Entries for BajaTroiaTurkey, which will be run with the approval of TOSFED and TMF, had been limited to 30 off-road vehicles and 30 motorcycles. However, because demand to enter was high, that number has been raised. Close to 100 vehicles are expected to start the race. With the finish falling on 29 October, during the Republic Day celebrations, local and international crews competing in 4x4s, buggies, ATVs / UTVs and motorcycles will pass through some of the most historically and touristically interesting points of the Çanakkale region. After the Ceremonial Start in front of the Trojan Horse on the first day, the crews will begin the event and, following the Prologue stage, tackle 13 special stages over four days.
Promising a challenging route with mud, water and hard rock crossings reminiscent of the legendary Dakar Rally, as well as demanding off-road climbs, BajaTroiaTurkey will see crews from around 10 countries pushing their vehicles to their limits. The event's prize-giving ceremony will also be held in front of the Trojan Horse.
