Apaydın Suffers Rallycross Finale Heartbreak

The final round of the 2019 Turkish Rallycross Championship was organised by TOSFED on Sunday 24 November at the İzmit Körfez circuit. The event featured 20 drivers who had qualified for the finale through points earned in the regional cups, and Engin Apaydın set the fastest times in his category in all three qualifying heats.
Competing in a Citroen Saxo VTS with the support of HANKOOK tyres, the Bursa-based driver had earned his place in the Turkish Rallycross Championship final with three wins in the Orhangazi Autocross event. He won all three qualifying races in his category, but a mechanical failure after the bridge crossing on two laps meant he could not complete the final and was forced to bid farewell to the championship.
Despite six race wins, Apaydın was left disappointed to finish the championship without a final result. "We were able to solve the problems that began in our car during qualifying thanks to the successful work of our service crew, but we had to give up the fight while leading on the final laps of the six-lap final. We unluckily lost the Turkish Rallycross Category 1 title," said Apaydın.
