Bumper-to-Bumper Battles at Akyazı

Round 2 of the 2016 Turkish Karting Championship was organised by the Istanbul Karting and Automobile Club (İKOK) on 1 May 2016 at the Akyazı Kenan Sofuoğlu Race Track.
A total of 17 drivers started the races across the Mini, Formula Junior, Formula Senior and Formula Master classes. Three registered competitors did not start because of illness.
In the Mini class, the races were closely fought between Ömer Asaf and Zekai Özen. Ömer Asaf finished first, Zekai Özen second and Batı Ege Yıldırım third.
In Formula Junior, Mert had won the first two races, but in the third race İzel took the lead after the start and finished first with an excellent performance towards the end. Efehan, who is competing in his first season, never fell away from the action and will join the front-runners as experience grows. At the end of the day, Mert Dalkıran took first place on the podium, İzel Karasu second and Efehan Kaptanoğlu third.
The Formula Senior and Formula Master classes started together. As everyone expected, the drivers put on superb races in all three heats. Excitement was at its peak in both classes right up until the chequered flag fell.
In Formula Senior, the races, which almost all finished bumper to bumper, ended as follows.
1- Berkay Besler
2- Mert Dalkıran
3- Gün Taşdelen
4- Zeynep Şen
5- Emir Kalafatoğlu
In Formula Master, the excitement never let up. Burak Kocamangil, whom we know from Prokart racing, impressed with his race pace. Although he handed the win to the experienced Mehmet Çınar twice, he finished first in the final race. Volkan Düzgün, who injured a rib, fell away from the fight and only completed the race. While Mehmet Çınar and Burak Kocamangil led the races throughout the day, there was another battle between İbrahim Erkan, Mehmet Yaman and Süleyman Kolot. In all three races, the order changed when Mehmet Yaman and Süleyman Kolot made contact. Because of protests, the final results for this class will be announced during the week. According to the provisional results, the order at the end of the day was as follows.
1- Mehmet Çınar
2- Burak Kocamangil
3- Mehmet Yaman
4- Süleyman Kolot
5- İbrahim Erkan
6- Volkan Düzgün
Round 3 of the Turkish Karting Championship will be held on 29 May at the Körfez Race Track.
