Ağaoğlu Climbs to Victory at Darlık

Staged with the support of Şile Belediyesi and Spor Toto, the second round of the 2018 Turkish Hill Climb Championship began on Saturday 19 May at Yeni Şile Marina with a ceremonial start and drifting demonstrations.
On Sunday 20 May, over three runs on the 5km course between Teke and Yeni Darlık Village, Şule Berkcan from Ankara, competing in a Fiat Palio on her first event, won Category 1, while Hakkı Ağaoğlu took Category 3 in a Peugeot 207 S2000 for GP Garage My Team and Emin Cem Yalın won Category 4 in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX, also for GP Garage My Team. Ağaoğlu also set the fastest run of the day with a time of 02:42.79.
On the same day and on the same course, 13 classic cars of various makes and models also took part in the local Classic Hill Climb organised by the Klasik Araç Sporları Kulübü (KASK). Yavuz İpci, owner of a 650-horsepower 1974 Pontiac Firebird, won the event, while Serkan Sorguç, competing alongside his daughter Derin Deniz Sorguç, took second in a 1973 BMW 2002. Third place went to İbrahim Bora Özdemir, who competed with his daughter Defne Özdemir in his 1974 Mercedes Benz 220. With this event, classic cars, rally cars and drift cars competed together on a closed-road course for the first time.
