9 Eylül Autocross Cup Gets Under Way

The first race of the local 9 Eylül Autocross Cup was held on Sunday 10 May at the İzmir Menderes autocross track, organised by the Aydın Automobile Sports Club with the support of Menderes Municipality. Contested across three separate categories, the event proved tough and closely fought on a visually striking and competitive track.

In Category 1, Tolga Tezeken took the win and also set the fastest time on the track. Burak Güngör finished second, while Doğukan Alkan and Yaşar Özeren, both of whom fell victim to mechanical failure in their first races, missed out on the podium.

Şükrü Kızılkaya, a title contender in Category 2, slid off the track and could only finish third. Experienced competitor Mithat Diker lost time after riding up onto a mound of earth and took second place on the podium. Erdal Oral, who capitalised on his rivals' mistakes, claimed victory with a highly accomplished drive.

In Category 3, which featured two female competitors, Kemal Şener took the win, with Yonca Güngör second and Esin Şener third. As a result, Yonca and Esin finished first and second in their own class.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Kuvvet Erim said: "As a club, we are continuing the work we have started without slowing down. Our aim is for successful competitors to emerge in our region. God willing, we will keep delivering fine events, just as we did today."
