The Yiğit Timur-Ufuk Uluocak crew, competing in the Middle East Rally Championship this season for Tokspor WRT in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X, finished the championship's second round, the Kuwait Rally, third overall and second in Group N.

Yiğit Timur on the Podium in Kuwait

In a statement on social media after the event, Timur said: "The Kuwait International Rally is over. In our category we finished second, right behind local driver Mshari Al-Thefiri, the 2013-2014 Middle East Group N Champion, who only contests this rally on home soil, and third overall. Although we managed to cut the 30-second penalty handed down by the stewards yesterday to 8 seconds on the first loop this morning, we then missed a junction in the stage and got lost, and a puncture followed, so we gave back far more than we had clawed back. By finishing ahead of all the drivers chasing the Middle East Rally Championship in our category, we picked up very valuable points for the rest of the season and largely made up for the trouble we had in Qatar. With this result we have also become the first and only Turkish driver to achieve a podium in the Middle East Rally Championship. This pride belongs to all of us. First of all, I would like to thank my team Toksport WRT, the biggest driving force behind all of this, and then my valued sponsors and all of you for your support. The next round of the Middle East Rally Championship is the Jordan Rally, which starts on 5 May."
