New Season Opens at Tuzla

Round 1 of the 2019 Turkish Karting Championship was held by Tuzla Motorsporları Kulübü at Tuzla Karting Park on 2-3 March. Across all classes, the two days produced closely fought and exciting racing.
The five drivers competing in the Mini class - Emir Tanju, Hakkı Dorum, Batı Ege Yıldırım, İskender Zülfikari and Sarp Uzunoğlu - gave spectators plenty to enjoy. Emir Tanju won all three races to finish the day in first place, while Hakkı Dorum took second and Batı Ege Yıldırım third.
In the Formula Junior class, the fight at the top was between Ömer Asaf Kolot and Yiğit Arslan. National team driver Ömer Asaf Kolot opened the season with a win, taking two victories and a second place, while Yiğit Arslan, with two second places and one win, finished second on the podium in the opening round of the season. Third place in this class went to Kerim Sulyak, followed by Mert Ali Sarıçiçek and Utku Levent Türkay.
In Formula Senior, which had the biggest entry with seven drivers, Ali Ehad Türker won all three races to take the class win. Kerem Kahraman finished second, while Zekai Özen was another driver to start the season on the podium. Behind the podium trio, the order was Fahrettin Çak, Tayfun Uzun, Mert Yudulmaz and Ayda Biter.
The Turkish Karting Championship continues with Round 2 on 6-7 April in Bursa at the Nilüfer Karting Circuit.
