Renowned Commentator Praises Turkey

One of the world's best-known WRC commentators, Colin Clark, has made some significant remarks about the Turkish round of the World Rally Championship, to be held in Marmaris... Speaking in a broadcast on the WRC's official website that reached millions of viewers live, Clark praised Marmaris and stressed that the event in September 2018 should not be missed. The programme, presented by Becks Williams, opened with the announcement "Turkey returns to the WRC calendar with the resort of Marmaris".
The renowned British commentator said he had travelled to Marmaris in September 2017 to watch the Rally of Turkey, organised by the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation, and to follow the preparations for 2018, and explained how impressed he was by Marmaris and the excellence of the organisation. Clark described what he found in Marmaris as "fantastic" and continued on the live broadcast: "There is a young, dynamic and energetic team behind the rally. They have planned everything to make it a good event. Some very special stages have been prepared. The most important feature of the stages is that they are very close to Marmaris. There are fantastic roads. They are similar to the ones from the Kemer rally held previously and to the stages in southern Cyprus, but they also remind you of the Alps. They look like the scenery of the Alps. The views are magnificent. These will be demanding stages for the competition."
Colin Clark also reminded viewers that Marmaris is the most popular holiday resort in Turkey for the British. "It is a very safe area. You get from the airport to Marmaris very easily. The people of Marmaris know very well how to keep holidaymakers happy and how to look after them safely. That is their business. I felt extremely comfortable while I was there," said Clark, who, in response to a question from presenter Becks Williams, explained that the technical level of the event is very high and that the competitors will face a technically challenging route. Williams said the presenter was looking forward to Rally Marmaris, with its "mixed" stages that call for driving that is at times slow and at times very fast, and Clark's advice to Williams and all listeners was: "It is a place with direct flights from almost every airport in Britain. Car rental prices are cheap, hotels are affordable, and the food is superb. If you want to watch an exciting rally in 2018, don't miss Marmaris. Marmaris certainly has everything on offer in France, Spain and England. In the coming years Rally Marmaris will attract much more interest."
Marmaris Rally Turkey will be the 10th round of the championship, which begins in Monte Carlo on 22 January, and will take place on 13-16 September 2018.
