Ümit Can Özdemir Reviews His 2024 Season
GP Garage My Team driver Ümit Can Özdemir, who fought for the title in the Petrol Ofisi Maxima 2024 Turkish Rally Championship, reviewed the season for turkmotorspor.com readers and shared his goals for 2025.
Sarıkamış Rally
We really enjoyed our first snow rally in Sarıkamış, and we also got used to one another with my new co-driver, Kutay Ertuğrul. I'm happy that we finished the rally on the podium.
Favourite stage: SS1 Duja Chalet
Marmaris Aegean Rally
We won the Aegean Rally, the first tarmac rally of the season. The stages were genuinely great, even perfect. I hope the World Rally Championship will be held on Marmaris's tarmac stages in the near future.
Favourite stage: SS10 Akyaka
Rally Bodrum
Overall, we couldn't show the performance we were expecting at Rally Bodrum. In terms of pace, we fell short of what we had predicted. Even so, finishing the rally in second made us happy.
Favourite stage: SS9-12 Petrol Ofisi Maxima
Yeşil Bursa Rally
Yeşil Bursa Rally gave us a lot of enjoyment again with its classic stages. I think the Soğukpınar stage in particular is the best tarmac stage in Turkey. We finished this rally in second place on the podium as well.
Favourite stage: SS6-8 Downtown
ESOK Rally
The Eskişehir Rally was run on gravel for the first time in a long while, but overall it was a very unlucky event for us. A mechanical problem dropped us a long way down the order and we couldn't finish the rally as we had aimed to.
Favourite stage: SS1 Kent Ormanı
Kocaeli Rally
In Kocaeli, as in the previous rally, we ran into mechanical problems and couldn't finish the rally. It was very upsetting to meet this at the rally where we were strongest.
Favourite stage: SS1-3 Petrol Ofisi Maxima
Istanbul Rally
After the mechanical problems we had, the Istanbul Rally was the only event where we competed on gravel. We finished the rally in second place and we are pleased with our performance.
Favourite stage: SS6-8 Remed Asisstance
2025 Goals
Our goal for 2025 is to be able to compete in better circumstances and conditions. As drivers, we will again aim to do the best we possibly can.
