Tuzla Karting Park Opens Its Doors

Round 3 of the 2017 Turkish Karting Championship was held by the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED) in Tuzla, Istanbul, on 15-16 July. Marking the opening of Tuzla Karting Park, the first professional karting facility in Istanbul in 10 years, the event featured 24 drivers across four categories and produced intense competition.
The race, organised with the support of Tuzla Municipality, saw Kerim Sülyak take the win in the Formula Mini category, which featured six drivers aged 7-12, over the three races combined. Yiğit Arslan finished second and Ömer Asaf Kolot third.
In Formula Junior, open to drivers aged 13-16, Mert Dalkıran once again stood on the top step of the podium, followed by Zekai Özen in second and Mert Yudulmaz in third.
In Formula Senior, for young drivers aged over 15, Gün Taşdelen won all three races to add another victory to the tally, while Emir Tahincioğlu took second and Mert Dalkıran third.
In Formula Master, the biggest category with eight drivers aged over 32, last year's Turkish champion Mehmet Çınar took the win. Emre Gülkan finished second and Volkan Düzgün third to complete the podium.
Following this round, Kerim Sülyak leads the championship in Formula Mini, Mert Dalkıran in Formula Junior, Gün Taşdelen in Formula Senior and Mehmet Çınar in Formula Master.
The 2017 Turkish Karting Championship continues with Round 4, which will also be held at Tuzla Karting Park on 26-27 August.
