TOSFED Raid Cup Gets Off to a Thrilling Start

In off-road, a discipline attracting ever-growing interest in recent years, the TOSFED Raid Cup, made up of long-distance endurance events, got under way with its opening round on 20-21 June, following the Off-road and Trial championships.
The first round of the TOSFED Raid Cup, which will consist of three rounds run in a two-day marathon format, was organised in Çorlu by the Trakya Off-road Club (TRAKOFF). In the first rally raid event held there, 31 crews took the start, including two guest crews from Bulgaria and one from Greece. In a tough event staged at the Kum Ocakları area of Çorlu's Önerler district, which attracted great interest from spectators, 20 crews made it to the finish.
In the Buggy category, guest crew Tsanko Tsankov-Zornitsa Todorova from Bulgaria took victory in a Polaris RZR 1000, while the category's other two crews, Kaan Gürgenç-Ergun Erakman and Nikolay Gochev-Georgi Gochev, failed to complete the event.
In the 4x4 category, Ahmet Tınkır-Rafet Yılmaz won Class 3 in a Jeep CJ5, while the father-and-son crew of Ali Kartal-Emirhan Kartal finished second and took the Class 1 win in a Suzuki Jimny, with Mert Becce-Hakan İsen third in a Suzuki Jimny. In Class 2, İsmail Koçali-Devrim Öztürk took the win in a Suzuki Grand Vitara. At the prize-giving ceremony held after the event, the crews who shared the top three places in their categories received trophies, along with TOSFED incentive awards of 1,500 TL for winners, 1,000 TL for runners-up and 500 TL for third place, presented by TOSFED Deputy President Kemal Kurtagiç.
The second round of the TOSFED Raid Cup will be held on 1-2 August.
