Toktaş Takes Podium in Bursa

The 41st Yeşil Bursa Rally, round four of the 2016 Turkish Rally Championship, was held on 23-24 July and organised by the Bursa Automobile Sports Club, known as BOSSEK. The event attracted 49 cars and 98 competitors. The İsmet Toktaş - Kaan Özşenler crew, driving a Ford Fiesta R2, achieved a fine result with third in class and ninth overall.

İsmet Toktaş, who also competes in Turkish hill climb, circuit racing and rallycross, took part in the Yeşil Bursa Rally alongside experienced co-driver Kaan Özşenler. The crew kept up their pace from the very first stage and came through the demanding Bursa stages to take a podium finish.

Toktaş, who competes in Class 4 of the Turkish Rally Championship with the backing of AES CNC, Nando Ayakkabı and Buron Mimarlık, said at the finish: "Yeşil Bursa Rally is one of the most punishing rallies of the season, and we used the advantage of being on home ground to build a controlled but quick pace. We aimed to rise above our experienced rivals in the RC4 class and take a podium, and we succeeded in that goal. Although we had a small off on the first day, we didn't lose our concentration, and by the end of the second day we managed to reach the podium and finish in the overall top 10."

The Toktaş - Özşenler crew currently sit fourth in Class 4 of the Turkish Rally Championship and will continue their campaign after Bursa at the Eskişehir Rally on 3-4 September.
