Champions Decided at Tuzla

The seventh and final round of the 2017 Turkish Karting Championship was held at Tuzla Karting Park on 4-5 November. Overcast skies and occasional drizzle on both days left drivers worried about tyre choice, but all three races in every category were run on a dry surface. In Mini, Ömer Asaf Kolot finished the day on top, while Mert Dalkıran took the honours in Formula Junior, Gün Taşdelen in Formula Senior and Emre Gülkan in Formula Master…
There was a fierce battle among seven drivers in the Mini category, which is open to competitors aged 7 to 12. Ömer Asaf Kolot took the win, with Kerim Sulyak second and Yiğit Arslan third. Sulyak won the points fight with Kolot and became the 2017 Turkish Karting Mini Champion.
In Formula Junior, Mert Dalkıran, who represented Turkey at the FIA CIK Karting Academy this season, claimed the win and the Turkish title in his category. He was followed by Zekai Özen, who stepped up from Mini to Junior this year, in second, and by young Ayda Biter, who began racing this season, in third.
In Formula Senior, Gün Taşdelen won two of the day's three races and took the overall victory. Mert Dalkıran finished the day second, while the young Üstün Üstünkaya was third. With this win, Gün Taşdelen secured the Turkish Karting Senior Championship…
In Formula Master, Emre Gülkan won two of the three races to take the day's victory. Volkan Düzgün, with two second places and one win, finished second, and Mehmet Yaman from Izmir was third. Mehmet Çınar, as he did last year, ended the season as Formula Master champion.
