Close Fight at Şahintepe

Round three of the AVIS 2023 Turkish Hill Climb Championship, the Gemlik Municipality Şahintepe Hill Climb, was organised by Bursa Otomobil Sporları Spor Kulübü (BOSSEK) on 15-16 July with the support of ICRYPEX and Gemlik Municipality. The event, which saw 52 competitors battle across five categories, was followed with great excitement by a large crowd of spectators, as it is every year.
Held over three runs on the 7.20km course, Category 1 was won by Bursa-based Mehmet Göksever in a Citroen Saxo VTS for Atış Motorsport. Second place went to İbrahim Cabacı in a Peugeot 106 GTI for Ülkü Motorsport, with third taken by Sevcan Sağıroğlu in a Ford Fiesta R1 for Atış Motorsport.
In Category 2, Yiğit Yalçın took victory in a Peugeot 208 R2 for GP Garage My Team, while Taner Oruç was second in a Ford Fiesta R2 for Ülkü Motorsport and Engin Apaydın completed the podium in a Ford Fiesta R2 for Atış Motorsport.
Burak Başlık was the fastest in Category 3, driving a Peugeot 2008 Rally4 for Atış Motorsport, with team-mates Serdar Kaan Yalçın (Ford Fiesta ST) and Murat Soyçopur (Honda Civic Type-R) second and third respectively.
In Category 4, İsmet Toktaş took the win in a Skoda Fabia R5 for Atış Motorsport, also claiming the fastest run award with a time of 03:57.18. GP Garage My Team driver Cem Yalın was second in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX, with team-mate Sinan Soylu third in another Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX.
In Category 5, which is open to drift cars, Ertekin Tekneci took the win, with Bahadır Sevinç second and Deniz Dursun third, both for Ülkü Motorsport. The teams' title for the event went to Atış Motorsport.
In the ladies' classification, Sevcan Sağıroğlu won Category 1, ahead of Çiğdem Tümerkan and Deniz Kübra Ulusoy, while the other category wins went to Elif Gizem Filiz in Category 2, Nuray Ürkmez in Category 3 and Kübra Demirci Keskin in Category 4.
The fourth round of the AVIS 2023 Turkish Hill Climb Championship will be organised by Ege Otomobil Spor Kulübü (EOSK) in Buharkent, Aydın, on 29-30 July.
