Another First for Rally Bodrum

Rally Bodrum, organised for the fifth time this year by Karya Otomobil Spor Kulübü (KAROSK), drew attention not only for the excitement of motorsport but also for its pioneering approach to sustainability.

Thanks to environmental sustainability measures implemented under the leadership of the Bodrum Hoteliers Association (BODER) in cooperation with Commited and Kayacan Environmental Engineering, the event became Turkey's first rally to receive an internationally valid carbon-neutral certificate.

With more than 600 participants hosted, the main sources of carbon emissions at the rally, including accommodation, transport, energy consumption, waste production and food and drink, were measured in detail using the Green Events Tool (GET) methodology. All data was collected digitally through the Commited platform. The resulting carbon footprint was then neutralised through carbon offsetting investments in Gold Standard-certified projects.

The Stages Opened Up Not Just to Speed, but to Sustainability:
• International carbon footprint measurement in line with the GET methodology,
• Calculation of individual emissions through participant forms,
• Real-time digital data analysis and transparent reporting,
• Carbon offsetting through Gold Standard-approved environmental projects.

Rally Bodrum Environmental Officer Ünsal Kayacan stressed that the work was not merely a measurement project, but also a sustainability step that raises awareness and shows the way for the sector. "This year at Rally Bodrum, we led the way not just on the stages, but towards a sustainable future too. For the first time in Turkey, a rally has documented its environmental responsibility with an internationally recognised carbon-neutral certificate. We believe that sport is about more than competition; it carries responsibility as well," he said.

The event's environmental sustainability reports and offsetting documents have been shared with the public at commited.app/tr. Further details can be found at https://registry.goldstandard.org/batch-retirements/details/210352 .
