Rallycross Rule and Calendar Changes Announced

In rallycross, the discipline the late Renç Koçibey described as "the most daring of the motorsports", TOSFED aims to increase both competitor participation and spectator and media interest in the new season. The federation has announced rule and calendar changes in Bulletin No. 2017/06, published on 22 August.
orhangazirallikros2016-01Rallycross events had been run in three categories, as set out in Article 2.1 of the National Rallycross Regulations in the 2017 Rulebook. From this season they will be run in four. Category 1 (up to 1600 cc), Category 2 (1601-2000 cc) and Category 3 (over 2000 cc) continue, while the newly added Category 4 will bring in two- or four-wheel-drive buggies.
canam_buggy_rallikrosPurpose-built two- or four-wheel-drive cars of up to 1600 cm³ engine capacity that comply with Appendix J, Article 279A.2 will be classified as Super Buggy, while purpose-built two- or four-wheel-drive cars of up to 941 cm³ that comply with Appendix J, Article 279A.2 will be classified as Junior Buggy.
2016-rallikros-final-yarisiBesides this rule change, the 2017 Turkish Rallycross Championship calendar has also been amended at the request of the organising clubs. Under the revised calendar, the first two rounds of the season will be a joint organisation by the Eskişehir Motorsport Club (ESOK) and the Ankara Motorsport Club (ANOK), held on 23-24 September in Kaynaşlı, Düzce. Rounds three and four will take place on 7-8 October at the Orhangazi rallycross track in Bursa, jointly organised by the Bursa Motorsport Club (BOSSEK) and the Kocaeli Motorsport Club (KOSDER). The season finale, round five, will be organised by the Ege Motorsport Club (ESOK) on 4-5 November.
