First Day of Rallycross Finale Complete

The first day of the finale of the 2016 Turkish Rallycross Championship, organised jointly by the EOSK, KOSDER and BOSSEK clubs and taking place this weekend in Orhangazi, Bursa, is now behind us.

In today's event, the third round of the five-round championship, Bursa's Burak Başlık took the win in Category 1 in a Citroen Saxo VTS, with Ömer Köstek from Istanbul second in a Fiat Palio and Mustafa Çetin from Istanbul third in a Lada Samara.

In Category 2, of the two drivers competing in Avitaş Control 2s, Halid Avdagiç finished first and Kerim Orak second, while third place went to experienced Ankara driver Tan Uydaş in an Opel Kadett. Bora Arabacı, in an Anadol A1, and Semih Erkal, in a Ford Fiesta ST, were unable to complete the event after suffering mechanical problems in the heats.

In Category 3, Bursa's Tansel Üründül, back behind the wheel after a long break, rolled his Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX, and Bursa's Osman Uğur, also in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX, was eliminated in the heats with an engine failure. That left Ankara's Sinan Saatçi alone in his Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IV, and he took the category win comfortably.

The season's fourth and fifth rounds will start tomorrow (Sunday 16 October) at 11:00. The races will be held at the 1,100-metre Orhangazi Municipality Rallycross Track on the shores of Lake İznik, and the event will conclude with a prize-giving ceremony at İskele Pub at 19:00 on Sunday 16 October.
