Curtain Comes Down on Turkish Hill Climb Championship at Kaynaşlı

The 6th and final round of the 2015 Turkish Hill Climb Championship was organised by the Eskişehir Automobile Sports Club (ESOK) in Düzce on 29-30 August 2015, with the support of the Düzce Governorship, Spor Toto, the Kaynaşlı District Governorship and Kaynaşlı Municipality.

The event began on Saturday 29 August with a ceremonial start in front of the Düzce Governorship building and drew great interest from local people encountering motorsport for the first time. Over two runs on the 6km course linking Kaynaşlı to Topuk Plateau, 27 competitors from Bursa, Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir and Antalya battled across four separate classes.

In Category 1, Bursa's Burak Başlık took the win in a Citroen Saxo VTS, with fellow Bursa competitor Engin Apaydın, driving a similar car for Ülkü Motorsport, second. Istanbul's Gürkal Menderes completed the Category 1 podium in third in a Nissan Micra.

In Category 2, Izmir's Galip Atar, driving a Fiat Punto S1600 for Ülkü Motorspor, claimed his second win of the season at Kaynaşlı, while young Bursa driver Semih Erkal finished second in a Renault Clio Williams. In Category 2, which featured six competitors, Ankara's Cem Şit took third in an Opel Astra GSI.

In Category 3, Bursa's İsmet Toktaş, driving a Honda Civic Type-R for Ülkü Motorsport, left the Kaynaşlı course with the class win. Young Ankara driver Refik Bozkurt took second in a Renault Clio Sport, while another Ankara competitor, Yazvuzhan Cabbaroğlu, was third in a Subaru Impreza WRX.

In Category 4, last year's champion Ümit Ülkü set the fastest run of the day, 3:54.192, in a Porsche 997 GT3 and once again won his class. Hakan Yuva, driving a Fiat Punto S1600 for Pegasus Racing, finished second, while experienced circuit racing name Bilal Saygılı ended his first hill climb in a Porsche 991 GT3 with third place.

Izmir's Ahmet Mutlubaş won the local classification in a Porsche 997 GT3, Dağhan Yavuz took the Eskişehir drivers' classification in a Fiat Palio, and Izmir's Berna Şensoy won the ladies' class in an Opel Astra GSI.

Following the season finale of the Turkish Hill Climb Championship, Burak Başlık in Category 1, Galip Atar in Category 2, Refik Bozkurt in Category 3 and Ümit Ülkü in Category 4 were crowned Turkish champions.
