Ümit Ülkü Fastest at Ovacık

The sixth round of the 2016 Turkish Hill Climb Championship was held on Sunday 9 October on the Ovacık Village course, organised by the Istanbul Automobile Sports Club. At the Mapfre Genel Sigorta Hill Climb, run with Mapfre Genel Sigorta as title sponsor, 15 competitors from Bursa, Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya and Ankara went head to head, taking on the 4.240 km asphalt course three times after their practice runs.

Last year's Hill Climb Class 1 champion, Bursa's Burak Başlık, took the class win in the Yenigelenler-supported Citroen Saxo VTS, with the experienced Burak Sohtorik second in a Fiat Palio and young Bursa driver Şamlı Ahmet Filiz, also in a Fiat Palio, third...

In Class 2, Demsaş-supported Hakan Ertarman of Bursa was the fastest of the day in a Renault Clio Ragnotti. Nuray Işık of Bursa was second in an Opel Corsa S1600, while Okan Tanrıverdi of Antalya took third in a Renault Sport Clio III.

In Class 3, Bursa's İsmet Toktaş, competing in a Honda Civic Type-R EP3 with the support of RMK and Nando, added another win to his run of victories and left Istanbul triumphant. Cem Yudulmaz was second and Göktan Bayraktar third, both in similar cars, to complete the podium.

In Class 4, Ülkü Motorspor driver Ümit Ülkü won the class in a Porsche 997 GT3 and also claimed the "Fastest Run" award with a time of 01:44.48 on his third run. Ankara's Kadir Murat Altuntaş from the same team was second in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX, while another competitor, Istanbul's Selim Bacıoğlu, was unable to finish the event due to a mechanical failure.
The 2016 Turkish Hill Climb Championship will conclude with the Kartepe Hill Climb, to be held in Kocaeli on 5–6 November.
