Autocross Action Returns to the Aegean

The first autocross event of the year in the Aegean region will be held in Izmir on Sunday 1 October, organised by Aydın Automobile Sports Club. Run on a dirt-surfaced track created in Seyrek through the joint efforts of AYOSK and Menemen Municipality, the event will be contested over two rounds in four separate classes. Having also hosted the Aegean Cup last season, the Seyrek track is visually striking and competitive in character.
The Izmir Autocross will begin on Sunday 1 October with scrutineering at 09:30, followed by practice runs between 11:00 and 12:00. The racing, totalling 10 laps split into two separate sections, will take place between 12:30 and 16:30, and the event will close with a prize-giving ceremony at 17:00. AYOSK President Mithat Diker said they were working together with Menemen Municipality to provide an action-packed weekend on Sunday 1 October, and invited motorsport fans from Menemen and Izmir to come and watch the autocross. Spectators will be able to watch the event free of charge and can bring their own chairs and tables to enjoy a picnic.
The event is expected to draw strong interest from car enthusiasts as usual, and AYOSK President Mithat Diker will also take the start. The 800-metre dirt-surfaced Menemen-Seyrek Autocross Track, where the event will take place, is located on the left-hand side of the road, 2.5 kilometres past Bakırçay University on the Seyrek–Foça road.
