Orhan Wins Again at Yeşil Bursa Rally

The 46th Yeşil Bursa Rally, the second round of the Shell Helix 2022 Turkish Rally Championship, ended in victory for the Toksport WRT crew of Orhan Avcıoğlu and Burçin Korkmaz. On the first tarmac rally of the ICRYPEX-sponsored 2022 season, organised by Bursa Otomobil Sporları Kulübü (BOSSEK), crews tackled 10 special stages over 465 kilometres of asphalt roads across two days. Arriving in Bursa as championship leaders, Avcıoğlu and Korkmaz took their second win of the season after Rally Bodrum, with a total time of 01 hour 13 minutes 27.9 seconds, while Burak Çukurova and Burak Akçay of BC Vision Motorsport finished second, 15.5 seconds behind. Ali Türkkan and Burak Erdener of Castrol Ford Team Türkiye took third overall, and Red Bull driver Türkkan also claimed the best young driver award.Burak Başlık and Bahadır Özcan, competing for Castrol Ford Team Türkiye in a Ford Fiesta Rally4, were the fastest crew in the 2WD category and in Class 4. Other class winners were Dağhan Ünlüdoğan and Aras Dinçer of GP Garage My Team in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX in Class N, Serhan Türkkan and Koray Akgün of Castrol Ford Team Türkiye in a Ford Fiesta Rally3 in Class 3, and Tuncer and Asena Sancaklı of Renault Clio Trophy Türkiye in a Renault Clio Rally5 in Class 5. The rally's female co-driver award went to Sevilay Genç of BC Vision Motorsport, who competed alongside İsmet Toktaş. In the historic classification, open to classic rally cars, Üstün Üstünkaya and Kerim Tar won for Parkur Racing in a 1976 Ford Escort MKII. Brothers İbrahim and Mustafa Öztürk took second, and the Category 1 win, in a BMW E10 1502, while Onur Çelikyay and Serdar Canbek finished third in a Murat 124.In the TOSFED Rally Cup, run in memory of Oğuz Gürsel, the doyen of Turkish motorsport who passed away last year, Hakan Gürel and Çağatay Kolaylı of Castrol Ford Team Türkiye won overall, and also took victory in Category 2. Burak Akın and Yunus Emre Bol of BC Vision Motorsport, who led the event for a long time, finished second, with Cem Yudulmaz and Ali Emre Yılmaz of Castrol Ford Team Türkiye third. The other category wins went to Melih Cevdet Yıldırım and Mert Kaya of Castrol Ford Team Türkiye in Category 1, GP Sencan Kırıkkaya and Tezcan Başar in Category 3, and Levent Şapçılar and Deniz Gümüş of Castrol Ford Team Türkiye in Category 4. The Shell Helix 2022 Turkish Rally Championship continues with Eskişehir Rally on 24–26 June.
