Colourful Season Opener for Turkish Off-Road Championship
The opening round of the Petlas 2025 Turkish Off-road Championship took place in Kahramanmaraş on 26-27 April. Organised by Kahramanlar Offroad Spor Kulübü, with the support of Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality, the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, Spor Toto, ICRYPEX and Petlas, the event attracted 27 vehicles and 54 competitors across five categories.
On the first day, competitors tackled the 10-kilometre endurance stage in Kapıçam Nature Park four times. The second day continued with three passes of the 6-kilometre spectator stage, which drew great interest from local fans. After a fiercely fought event full of colourful scenes, Mustafa Gül-Serhat Dursun Akdemir took the overall win, with Ebubekir Uysal-Ali Seyda Kıvrak second and Caner Bal-Ramazan Karaçelik third.
In the SSV class, Salih Çarpışantürk-Mehmet Arda Demirkan won, with İsrafil Akyüz-Mert Tepe second and Abdullah Turgut-Arda Şenay third. The class wins were shared by Ebubekir Uysal-Ali Seyda Kıvrak in Class 4, Mustafa Gül-Serhat Dursun Akdemir in Class 3 and Can Tunay Açıkgöz-Halil Akgün in Class 2. Among the five female co-drivers – Gülten Toprak, Çiğdem Özden, Sibel Ünsal, Meryem Betül Kalyon and Gözde Dila Bayık – Gülten Toprak came out on top.
At the ceremony held at the Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Cultural Centre, the awards were presented to the top finishers by Acting Mayor of Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality Mehmet Beşen and Kahramanmaraş Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Yasin Özdemir.
