Sadık Bilgimer Fastest in Lefke

Rally Lefke, the opening round of the 2018 Northern Cyprus Rally Championship organised by the Northern Cyprus Touring and Automobile Association (KKTOK) with the support of Şeker Sigorta, was held with 15 crews taking part.

Run in front of a sizeable crowd, against the unique mountain and dam scenery of Lefke and in warm, sunny weather, the rally consisted of three stages – Bağlıköy, Dam and CMC – each run twice. In a closely fought event, Sadık Bilgimer and Ömer Akbelen won the rally, finishing about four seconds ahead of Nethouse Rally Team's Mehmet Kamiloğlu and Rasım Çetinkaya in the overall classification. Third in the rally, which was held with Lefke Municipality as title sponsor, were Mehmet Çocuk and Ahmet Akbıçak. Cahit Yekili–Harun Çakır, Abdullah Topal–Tuğrul Albayrak and Murat Aşık–Ali Kiremitçioğlu all failed to finish, but the fierce battle between the top three cars gave spectators plenty to enjoy.The class winners at Rally Lefke 2018 each received a Motul gift voucher. The class wins went to Cevdet Alptürk–Mustafa Yücener in Class 2, Mehmet Çocuk–Ahmet Akbıçak in Class N, Özhan Karaduman–Serdar Kumru in Class 4, İbrahim Yolcu Argün–Mazhar Ünal in the Juniors category and Tuğçe Öztürk in the Female Co-drivers category. With the results from this rally, Nethouse Rally Team moved to the top of the teams' championship standings. At the end of the event, before the prize-giving ceremony, Lefke Mayor Aziz Kaya, Lefke District Governor Halil Çorba and KKTOK President Tigin Kişmir celebrated 23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day with the children of Lefke.
