Big Battle at Kaynaşlı

The second round of the Turkish Off-road Championship ended in victory for the Jeep CJ5 crew of Hüseyin Memi-Ali Pertev from Sakarya. Held on 9-10 April at the Kaynaşlı Motorsports Centre by the Düzce Off-road Club, with the support of the Düzce Governorship, the Kaynaşlı District Governorship and Kaynaşlı Municipality, the event also drew great interest from spectators. Over two days, 33 vehicles and 66 competitors fought across six stages; on the first day the 15-kilometre forest stage was run three times, while on the second day the 5-kilometre obstacle stage was run three times.

At the end of a tough contest, Cemal Akagündüz-Caner Akkafa took second place overall in a Toyota Hilux, while the crew in third was Murat Taşlıdağ-Hüseyin Kurt in a Jeep Cherokee. The class wins were shared by Serdal Özer-Tamer Akdağ in Class 1 with a Suzuki Vitara, İrfan Özdemir-Engin Başkurt in Class 2 with a Suzuki Grand Vitara, Cemal Akagündüz-Caner Akkafa in Class 3 and Hüseyin Memi-Ali Pertev in Class 4. İlayda Hancı, the only female competitor in the event, rolled with co-driver Batuhan Korkut but still finished second in Class 1 after the two days, and remains in the championship fight.

Round three of the Turkish Off-road Championship will be held in Ankara on 30 April-1 May, organised by the Ankara Off-road Club (ANDOFF).
