Karting Season Opens with Record Entry

The opening karting event of the 2023 season, sponsored by ICRYPEX, the first round of the MOTUL Turkish Karting Championship, was held on 29-30 April at the TOSFED Körfez Circuit, organised by Bursa Uludağ Motor Spor Kulübü (BUMOSK).
With 72 competitors entered across five classes, and three races held for each, the first day of the Batı Kurumsal Karting Race saw fierce battles in the rain, while fans who filled the grandstands on Sunday enjoyed action-packed racing in sunny conditions.
In the Micro class, open to competitors aged 6-9, Doruk Sırnaç took victory, Guido Ebergenyi Miliceviç was second and Nihat Karadeniz third, while in the Mini class for 7-12-year-olds Can Özler won, Rüzgar Evci finished second and Cem Karakömür third.
In the Junior class for 12-15-year-olds, the top three places went to Hakkı Dorum, Yağız Tekşan and Ayşe Çebi, while in the Senior class for those aged over 14 Gün Taşdelen won, Kerim Sulyak was second and Batı Ege Yıldırım third. In the Master class for those aged over 30, the top three were Can Özdoğan, Murathan Gür and Barış Karadeniz.
In the Women's Junior class Ayşe Çebi won, Nisan Kalkavan was second and Leyla Sulyak third, while in the Senior women's class Zeynep Çukurova took victory and Sena Savaşer finished second. Awards were presented to the leading competitors at a ceremony held after the racing.
