Final Preparations Continue in Karabük

Ahead of the seventh and final round of the Turkish Off-road Championship, to be hosted by KARDOFF in Karabük, club officials held a press conference to brief the public on preparations. The finale will run over two days, on 14-15 October, at the site behind Karabük University. The first stage gets under way at midday on Saturday 14 October. Off-road enthusiasts from all over Turkey will take part in the event, which ends on Sunday 15 October.
Speaking about the event, KARDOFF Club and Black Sea Off-road Federation President Ahmet Demir said: "As in every year, the seventh and final round of the 2017 Turkish Off-road Championship will take place in Karabük. Held over two days, with a forest section and spectator stages behind Karabük University, the event will be full of adrenaline and excitement. After the sixth round in Samsun-Vezirköprü, the competitors' points are very close together, so we expect the seventh and final round to shuffle the standings and produce an exciting, high-adrenaline event. The forest stage will start at 13.00 on Saturday 14 October. The event will run over 10 gates and three stages, each 11.8 km long. On Sunday 15 October it will be contested over four stages with 20 gates. In Sunday's racing, which will include the spectator stages, the vehicles will try to complete the event by negotiating natural and artificial obstacles with plenty of climbs and descents. Each of these stages will be 9 km long. The total distance of the event is 89.21 km. On the evening of the final day, once the racing is complete, prizes will be presented to the top finishers in the championship. We also look forward to the public joining us at the weekend's events. During the week we visited our Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Abdurrahim Boynukalın, and invited him to the event, and he promised to attend if nothing gets in the way."
Demir noted that the championship began the season with 25 vehicles and that 15 to 20 vehicles are expected for the finale, adding: "If the stages our club has prepared are favoured by the competitors, we also expect a high turnout. Our club member Erdoğan Kovancı is competing in the championship, and his final position will be decided in the seventh-round finale. First of all, we wish him and all the competitors success. We would also like to thank everyone who has supported the finale, above all the Karabük Governorship, the Karabük and Safranbolu Municipalities, Karabük University, the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, the Police Directorate, the Forest Management Directorates, the Provincial Health Directorate and the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports."
