Historics Defy the Years

The 4th round of the 2016 Turkish Rally Championship, the 41st Yeşil Bursa Rally, was organised by the Bursa Automobile Sports Club (BOSSEK) on 23-24 July 2016. The event, supported by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Crowne Plaza Bursa, Hankook Toktaş Otomotiv, Eker Meydan, Durmazlar, Yazıcı Air, Bursa Teleferik, Uludağ İçecek, Ergünler İnşaat, Özel Ceylan International Hospital, Red Bull, AutoClub and Ströer Kentvizyon, attracted 49 cars and 98 competitors.

In the historic rally classification, open to rally cars over 35 years old, the crew of Engin Kap-Özden Yılmaz took a comfortable class win in a 1976 Ford Escort MK2 for the Bonus Unifree Parkur Racing team, also catching the eye by finishing 7th overall. Burak Türkkan-Onur Aslan took second in a Ford Escort MK2 for the Parkur Historic team, while Billur Hasbay-Serhat Öztemir, who finished third in a Fiat 131, also claimed the Category 1 win.

In the rally, the Bursa-based crew of Yılmaz Köprücü-Özcan Opçin finished fourth and third in Category 2 in an Akbaşak-backed 1979 Opel Kadett D, while the pair of Gerçek-Bahar Sunman took second in Category 1 in a Fiat 131 and Nijad Sirel-Senan Başoğlu finished third in Category 1, also in a Fiat 131.
