Young Kolot Impresses

Ömer Asaf Kolot, the 12-year-old national team driver representing Turkey in the ‘Belgian Rotax Max Challenge’ series with TOSFED's support under National Team Turkey, was at the Mariembourg circuit in Belgium on 17-18 March for the second race of the cup.Competing against 16 drivers from seven different countries in Mini Max, the higher category he has stepped up to this season, Ömer Asaf had a huge crash in practice, but the mechanics' superb work got the kart race-ready again.
Cold weather and ice on the track meant qualifying could not be run, so the starting order for the first race was decided by a draw. With the grid reversed for the next race, Ömer Asaf caught the eye with his fastest lap times and went on to finish the second round of the cup in third place.The young driver will take to the Kerpen circuit in Belgium on 19-20 May for the third round of the five-race series.
